Brow Shapes for your Face Shape

Oval

Soft-angled eyebrow shapes are perfect for you! Rihanna's brows in this photo are a great example.

Square

Strong, angled brows are perfect for you! The sharper your jawline, the sharper your brow peak should be.

Avoid disaster and achieve the best results:

Read all of the information, double check your face shape and eye shape, and sketch an outline of your brow shape out on your face before removing any hair.

Long/Rectangle

Straight brows & low arch brows are perfect for you! A bold brow also pairs beautifully with your face shape! Selena's brows (picture to the upper right) are the perfect brows for a Long/Rectangle face shape.

Heart

You have a beautiful, complex face shape that requires more strategic arching and angling. Start with a basic curved brow. The less prominent your forehead is, the more you should add arch and angle to your brows. The more prominent your forehead is, the less you should add angle and arch to your brows.

Round

High arch brows are perfect for you!  High arches help elongate your face and shift the natural focus point to your eyes!

Diamond

Curved brow shapes and soft arches are perfect for you! Stay away from high arches and sharp-angled brows.

Brow Shapes for your Eye Type

Almond vs. Round

Almond eyes (top) can handle just about any brow shape, but a medium to high arch brow is perfect for Almond eyes.

Round eyes (bottom) work best with low to medium arches. Stay away from curved brows.

Monolid vs. Hooded

Monolid eyes (top) look best with low to medium arches and lower brow tails.

Hooded eyes (bottom) can appear droopy if the tails or arches of the brows are too low, like in the picture. If you feel that your brows are making your eyes appear droopy, simply raise the tail and the arch.

The brows in the photos are not the goal. The photos are for eye shape demonstration only. I realize this eye collage may be a little creepy, but try to stick with me here.

Close Set vs. Wide Set

To balance Close Set eyes (top), raise the brow line towards the head of the brow, lower the tail of the brow, and move the heads of the brows and the arches slightly out away from each other. Add arch according to secondary eye shape.

To balance Wide Set eyes (bottom), lower the brow line toward the head of the brow, slightly raise the tail of the brow, and move the heads of the brows and arches slightly towards each other. Add arch according to secondary brow shape.

Deep Set vs. Protruding

Deep Set eyes (top) often pair well with a medium to high arch brow.

Protruding eyes (bottom) often pair well with a low to medium arched brow.

Up Turned vs. Down Turned

Up Turned eyes (top) can be balanced by moving the arches slightly in towards each other and slightly lowering the tail.

Down Turned eyes (bottom) can be balanced by moving the arches slightly out away from each other and slightly lifting the tail.

Choose Your Method

Eyebrows with hair growing in the all right spots- all you need to do is shape by tweezing, waxing, threading, trimming, etc.

Eyebrows with hair missing in crucial spots- outline the shape you want including where hair may be missing before beginning to remove unwanted hairs. After shaping your brows, you have a few options. If the hair is there but too light to see, a brow dye will work for you. Otherwise, you can fill the spot with a pencil or pomade or, for longer lasting results, consider microblading, microshading, or even eyebrow extensions.

Eyebrows that won't lay right (curly eyebrows)- strategic trimming and brow gel go a long way with this type, but they can't always fix the issue. If you need a stronger solution, just like you can relax hair, you can relax your eyebrows (brow lamination). This can offer the dramatic brow transformation you may be looking for. However, PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO RELAX YOUR EYEBROWS AT HOME IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THEM.
